On your first visit to Charlestown Veterinary Hospital, one of our friendly staff members will greet you at the front desk. Bring any medical history for your pet when you come to the hospital. If you are unsure of past medical history, let us know everything that you think will be important. Our veterinarians can still work with whatever information you have.
When your pet is ready to be seen, a technician will take you and your pet to a clean and comfortable exam room. The technician will review your pet’s medical history and take your pet’s vitals. Then a veterinarian will go into more detail about any past or current problems before the physical examination of your pet. The medical history portion of the exam is significant, as this information helps us understand your companion’s lifestyle and any risk factors, which will determine the preventive health care best suited to their needs. Once we learn a few things about you and your pet, the veterinarian will perform a thorough physical examination, communicating any findings to you as they occur, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Appointment Policy
We recognize that your time is valuable, and we like to give every patient our full and undivided attention. Therefore, we operate on an appointment basis. While we do accept walk-ins if time allows, please know that clients with appointments are given priority. Emergencies and critically ill pets sometimes require our immediate attention, and occasionally, delays may occur. We ask for your patience in these situations. Please know that we always try to see every appointment on time.
