Dr. Jeffrey Ramsey

Dr. Jeffrey Ramsey grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, once a thriving steel city in northeastern Ohio. His father was transferred to New Jersey where Dr. Ramsey attended Rutgers University, Cook College, and graduated with a BS in Animal Science in 1978. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Missouri in 1984. Dr. Ramsey has had a taste of nomad life early on in his career by living in many states, including Ohio, New Jersey, Minnesota, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia before settling in Boston for the last 27 years. He has worked in many different practices from large to small and most recently owned and managed his own veterinary practice for 16 years. Dr. Ramsey strongly believes in compassionate personalized medicine and surgery. He has watched clients bring their children in with a new puppy or kitten and then has watched them grow up and have pets of their own. He takes a special interest in helping abandoned, neglected, and homeless animals and working with shelters and rescues when possible. He has particular interests in ophthalmology, dermatology and urgent care medicine. He is excited to begin a new venture at Charlestown Veterinary Hospital and anxious to meet many new clients and their pets.

During his free time, Dr. Ramsey enjoys bicycling around local trails, is an avid golfer, maintains his koi pond, works on his antique cars and bicycles, does projects around his victorian house and travels when possible. One fun fact is that he is a self proclaimed mini hoarder, or collector of stuff as he prefers to call it. His ‘stuff’ varies from a collection of bicycles, cars, typewriters, books, golf clubs, and yard sale finds, etc. Dr. Ramsey has traveled extensively to various countries including the Philippines, Sweden, Chile, but his most exotic adventure was hiking the Himalayas on his visit to Katmandu, Nepal. He also has fond memories of his visit to Prague, The Czech Republic, the country of his native ancestry. Dr. Ramsey resides in Dorchester with three feisty felines, Raptor, Zambesi and Peep, and a pond full of koi.

Practice Manager

Alycia is our Practice Manager. She first joined the team in 2019 at a sister hospital as a veterinary technician and worked her way up to her management role. She has over 13 years of experience in the veterinary industry with small animals and exotics, as well as surgery, client care, and management. In 2016, she graduated from North Shore Community College with her Associate Degree in Animal Care. She speaks feline and canine fluently.

Outside of work, Alycia loves spending time with her daughter Abriella, as well as her four kitties, three dogs, and bearded dragon, Mopar. Over the recent years, when Alycia is not working, she has been broadening her baking and cooking skills. One day Alycia would love to be on one of the baking competition shows, for the fun of course. She also loves spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee or in Maine. She enjoys snowboarding, car racing, boating, and scary movies.

She loves to spend time with her family and friends, and she has strong connections with her patients.  Ever since Erin was a young girl she was drawn to Veterinary medicine; this career choice was the best decision she has ever made, and it is more than just a job to her.
